For Gerringong four-piece The Bungalows, the road to the centre of their own musical universe has come through sheer determination and hard work. Over the last few years many kilometres have been spent touring up and down the Pacific and Princes Highways, making many good friends and fans along the way. Utilising their laid back South Coast attitude and a steadfast confidence, has put The Bungalows on an exciting journey, playing with some great bands and enjoying the rock ‘n’ roll fun, balanced with the peace of mind that only a dreamy coastal town can offer.
Over the sweaty 2011 summer the boys entered Big Jesus Burger in Sydney to record their new studio album ‘Monkey Mountain Road’ with talented Producer, Burke Reid (The Drones, Mess Hall, Liam Finn etc). The end result is definitely the best thing that The Bungalows have put to tape, ever, with Burke helping define the space and sound on the album, which makes for the purest expression of The Bungalows sound to date. Capturing songs that speak about brotherhood, good times and tales of survival in the modern urban jungle, The Bungalows present an exciting mix on their first studio album.
Over time the big hope is that more people will be exposed to this record, allowing audiences to see that The Bungalows are all about positive energy and good vibrations. And in these strange times ‘Monkey Mountain Road’ may just be the right remedy for fans looking for something with more soul and less spin, or better still it may even be the South Coasts breakthrough album that everyone has been waiting for.
